Why the Name Change?

As part of a celebration of our 25 th anniversary, Higgins Event Rentals has changed names. After 25 years, we have changed our name to Higgins Event Rentals. Not a huge change (only one little word), but it represents an evolution that has been 25 years in the making. So... why the name change? In 1982, Pierre Trudeau was Prime Minister, computers existed but no one knew how to use them, there was no internet & the Leafs hadn't won a Stanley Cup since 1967. More to the point, the Special Events industry in Southern Ontario was in its infancy. Today, while the Leafs still haven't won a cup, the world has changed immensely and the world of Special Events has changed along with it. Twenty five years ago, the choices that consumers had when planning an event were minimal. Today, there is virtually unlimited choice when choosing items, and Higgins carries, or can access everything required for any event, regardless of size or budget. In 1982, we did lots of house parties and backyard barbeques. While we do even more of them today, we also are involved in other types of events: corporate celebrations, charity runs, civic festivals and many more. We have grown our inventory dramatically and now offer a full tent inventory to make planning an event easier. We offer a computer layout service to easily plan and make changes to an event floor plan, and a set-up and take-down service performed by our uniformed staff. We have grown from just one location to two with the opening of our Oakville office in 2001. And lastly, we have grown our team to include friendly and hard-working people from different backgrounds who are eager to help you plan events that achieve the results that you want.
