Casey House chose to rent Harvest tables and Silver Industrial Chairs to set a tone of casual comfort and sharing for their June’s HIV+ Eatery Event. The 3-night dining experience wash hosted at the Queen West Venue 5 Brock. Higgins Event Rentals was proud to sponsor and attend the event where the meal was prepared by people living with HIV. The theme of the event was to #smashstigma around people who are HIV+.

Members of the Casey House Foundation team, including special events coordinator, Jennifer MacKeown Williamson, came to our Event Design Centre to do a hands on design brain storming session so they could see and feel the actual items they were ordering.   The team chose to rent Harvest Tables with the Black-wash finish, because the Harvest Tables’ 36″ width allowed room for eight guests to be served a family style meal with ease and comfort.  The Silver Industrial Chairs were both comfortable and matched the style of the bricks and beam gallery space in 5 Brock.

The event was a three night affair with delicious food made collaboratively by a team of HIV+ chefs and the professionals from Fidel Gastro’s. Chef Matt’s team impressed over 240 guests and spread the word that we need to keep working to dispel stigma around HIV.

The decor was amazing, the clean white tablet that is Five Brock Event Venue was transformed with Graphics and inspirational sayings.  The Rented Harvest Tables were set up in two rows of four tables.  with a centre aisle.   Guests came in through the Eastern most door into a cocktail/reception room.  It was both beautiful and practical.  The evening flowed perfectly.

The food was served family style on a variety of platters.  The rented harvest tables were roomy enough to accommodate the platters but not so wide as to make passing the food from side to side difficult.  Soup course was served in a rice bowl with our Smoke Grey Dessert Plate as an under-liner. The service was impeccable. Smart service staff brought the food out quickly. The chefs in the kitchen plating with style and good humor.  Everyone was working together for this very good cause.

Higgins Event Rentals was pleased to be one of the sponsors for the event. Each year we sponsor many events focused around food and friendship.  The majority of events are sponsored in January, February, March and April to coincide with our slower season.  By sponsoring events during these months we are able to provide the charities we support with more time, more great rental products at an amazing price.  We in turn use the sponsored events to entertain our customers or in this case to allow our sales team to see what it is like to be a guest at an event with our rentals.

Everyone of us agreed that the food, the staff the decor, the great cause and our rentals, especially the Black-washed  Harvest Tables made for a glorious evening.  We learned that for many people living with HIV/AIDS, it’s the stigma that hurts the most. June’s HIV+ Eatery was an opportunity to fight stigma with every bite and for us to come together in a show of love, support and acceptance, and to dispel the myths about HIV that condemn so many to suffer in silence
