Project Description
Perfect Venue for Socially Distanced Phase Three Event
When we came across these photos of June’s HIV+ Eatery March 3, 4 & 5, 2020 we were reminded that Five Brock Venue is an elegant Toronto Venue for a socially distance event. People living with HIV prepared a gourmet meal in a 3-night dining experience; Higgins Event Rentals along with the Royal Bank of Canada were sponsors . The events team at Casey House created the event as the launch of their #smashstigma campaign. Because it took place the first week of March, it was our last major event before the Covid 19 shut down. Looking back we realized that a socially distanced event would work well at Five Brock.
Each of three nights a team of HIV+ chefs and the culinary professionals from Fidel Gastro’s collaborated to make a five course feast served family style on our plates, bowls and platters. Each night 80 people sat at our Blackwash Harvest Tables making the room feel full but comfortable. These tables are 36″ wide which left plenty of rooms for the bowls and platters to be place on the table allowing guest on both sides of the table to serve themselves without touching the platters.
Over three nights the culinary team impressed over 240 guests and spread the word that we need to keep working to #smashstigma around HIV. We were lucky enough to attend one night.
This amazing event was held at Five Brock Venue . Conveniently located just steps from Queen St West in Parkdale. Our photographer Melissa Hombrebueno was on site to capture the look and feel of this magical event. We are happy to share the experience with you in the following photo essay.
Walking down the graffiti strewn laneway guests were drawn to the neon Five Brock sign and the and the clever June’s HIV+ Eatery custom vinyl graphics the event designers used to direct guests to the East Gallery door.
On entering the gallery guests were greeted by friendly bartenders behind bright red logoed bars made by applying custom vinyl overlays our white plexi bars . Our rustic metal ladder stands were ganged together with six foot planks to create a elegant back bar. Branded vinyl graphics decorated the white gallery walls.
Blackwash Harvest Tables and Industrial Chairs created a warm comfortable dining room.
The items featured included our Blackwash Harvest Tables and Industrial Chairs.
Five Brock a great Toronto spot for a social distanced event.
Five Brock Venue is available to rent for corporate events, weddings, product launches and art exhibits. The Room seated 80 people very comfortably at our 8′ x 36″ harvest tables with an area for reception and a bar. In the Post Covid world it would be a very comfortable spot for 50 guests. With high ceilings and lots of room to move around.
